We are thrilled to announce Dr. Lawrence Pilgram as the recipient of the October Aging Well Award! At 82 years young, Dr. Pilgram’s life has been defined by his passion for teaching and his dedication to making a lasting impact in the world of education.
After a fulfilling career in the classroom, Dr. Pilgram recently came out of retirement to continue teaching science part-time at Bishop LeBlonde High School. His return to teaching is driven by the same love for learning and mentorship and a drive to stay active.
Reflecting on the moments that mean the most to him as a teacher, Dr. Pilgram shares: “When a student all of a sudden understands a difficult concept, that's the highlight of the day. What's even better is when one of them explains it to another one. That's when you know you're really keyed into the class.” This sentiment speaks volumes about his dedication—not only to sharing knowledge but also to inspiring students to help one another grow.
Dr. Pilgram’s legacy is evident in the lives of countless students who, thanks to his guidance, have gained the confidence to explore and understand complex subjects. His passion for the science classroom shows the power of curiosity, empathy, and the desire to make education a lifelong pursuit.
Congratulations, Dr. Pilgram, on this well-deserved recognition! Your story reminds us that a commitment to learning—and helping others learn—can truly enrich our lives at any age.
