Freudenthal Home-Based Healthcare is proud to present the May Aging Well Award to Jim Lower, a man whose retirement is anything but quiet.
A lifelong resident of St. Joseph, Jim is known throughout the community for his energy, generosity, and unshakable commitment to serving others.
After graduating from Lafayette High School and Missouri Western, Jim built a career in sales and marketing. Even in retirement, he keeps active with a small marketing business on the side—but it’s his volunteer work that truly sets him apart.
Jim volunteers with the MU Extension Council and helps with food distribution at the Cathedral food pantry. He lends his voice as a cantor during Mass, lends his lawnmower to help elderly neighbors, and lends a hand driving community members to appointments through Uber. He even supports local youth by assisting with marketing for the Dance Arts Center.
Jim believes that aging well means staying active and giving back. Inspired by his sister—a retired nurse who reminded him that their "number one job now is to stay healthy and give back"—Jim lives out this philosophy each day.
Congratulations, Jim on winning the Aging Well Award, and thank you for showing us all what it means to age well in service to others!
