A Life Dedicated to Service Makes Melba Mier the October Aging Well Award Winner

Updated: Nov 3, 2022

This month's Aging Well Award goes to Melba Mier! This 74-year-old retired teacher has not let age slow down her down one bit, especially when it comes to her love of service. Melba not only dedicates many hours to her church home at Wyatt Park Christian Church, she also brings her spirit of service into the community at large by taking individuals to doctor's appointments, helping other seniors with grocery shopping, and so much more.

Lisa Brotsch who nominated Melba wrote, "I am so very thankful for Melba, see, she saved my life! I was homeless just last year, I reached out to Melba, and she didn't even hesitate to open her home to me."

Melba also loves staying active by running, especially 5k's for charity. Since 1984 she has ran and completed over 400 different events, including 2 marathons, for various causes.
